— Humor. It appears infrequently and in itself it is quite controversial, but it fits perfectly into the image and is perceived perfectly as a detail of the image. As soon as the connection between humor and image is broken, humor ceases to be perceived in principle.

— Argumentation. It should have been written “Larin knows how to criticize with reason,” but if you think about it, another wording would be correct. “Larin knows how to explain why he hates something”. The word “can” is quite appropriate here: he has a fairly critical, positivist mindset and general level of education, is well versed in the subject of the review, has a solid lexical baggage - which, in general, distinguishes him from many other haters and critics.

There can be many reasons for hatred: too flat, stupid, predictable or absurd humor, do not like the subject matter, do not like the images, etc. The project is structured in such a way that there is no need to talk about any balance, objectivity of assessments, judgments, etc. subjectivity and taste, be prepared that Dmitry will try to impose his ideas about humor, norms and values ​​on you. Almost always a serious face, voice, jokes, cold cynical rationality (which is also an instrument of provocation, by the way) - all this is familiar to us from the image from “Larin vs.” and here this image fits perfectly into the concept of the show and even acquires some new colors. It is interesting that Dima's improvising jokes are probably better than performing with pre-prepared jokes (see Larin's stand-up). Such is the paradox.

Not every release, of course, turns out to be successful and watchable. Often, just empty talk about nothing gets into the program, and sometimes attempts to joke or provoke a certain reaction of the interlocutors with something non-standard cause them only a reaction like: “What the fuck?” and the viewer, in turn, only has a well-known feeling of "Spanish shame" like: "he says, but I'm ashamed." This does not happen very often, but still, from time to time, Dima really messes up, because. a lot of what gets into the program would be worth cutting out during editing.

A relatively new role, which for some reason began to occupy Dmitry especially strongly recently. There is, of course, nothing wrong with creative experimentation, just as there is nothing wrong with creative evolution - in general, it is rather a blessing.

And the thing is… no, in general, it’s not even that the performance technique is weak. And the beat is borrowed. And the text on the beat does not always fit perfectly. Technique can eventually be mastered, it is not so difficult. Just like everything else, with time and experience, it can be developed to a more or less acceptable level. But what will happen even if such a development occurs? We're getting another very average rapper who specializes in dissing everyone. And that's it. So far, there is no reason to believe that this will not be the case.

Evolution from "quite a strong critic" V "pretty average rapper and battle rapper" And "Larin vs" V "Larin Disrespect" does not feel like an evolution at all, but rather like a turn somewhere not there . In the first case, there is a special face and image , There is knowledge of the matter and there is some almost professional depth , which allows you to say that here de “few can do this”, and in the second case - no. This is not an evolution and not an equivalent replacement.

However, if we are talking simply about diversity, about trying to learn something new not to replace but in addition to the old one, then everything is quite good for such an undertaking. One can only praise.

All this applies to battle rap. There are doubts that Larin would have been able to win the famous battle with, even if he had even much more experience in participating in battles at that time. So it goes.

That for which Larin is criticized and, it should be said, criticized is well deserved. Although the first stand-up was, perhaps, not as bad as it is commonly believed. No, he will probably plunge the viewer into despondency anyway: the shortcomings here are obvious and noticeable both in terms of material and in terms of presentation. And the main drawback is that, as it turned out, if you completely transfer video blogger as such, vlogger shows as such (very far from stand-up, by the way) along with the image, material, manner of joking - to the stage most of the time nothing good will come of it. Immoral, sexist, racist jokes, and in general jokes that “came” in chat roulette, in “Larin against”, etc. devoid of context, situations and gathered together on stage ceased to shock, shock, and often in principle arouse interest- and suddenly became predictable and boring. And the cynic-misanthrope suddenly transformed into an insecure, notorious sociophobe - and so the scene changes everything. The moment when Larin was filming chatroulette during the break between the first and second parts of his speech is indicative, and when, I think, many caught themselves thinking that chatroulette is more interesting and funnier. That's it.

Stand-up performance as a list of jokes and prerequisites for them, i.e. without a theme and concept - this is a very complex genre and the approach to preparation here should be completely different - Dmitry, obviously, did not take this into account.

But, despite all this, in some incomprehensible way it was felt that this was just the very “first pancake”, which was lumpy and what would be better next, because in fact, the material was not bad, there were good jokes, and some stiffness and uncertainty overcome with experience as a rule.

The second stand-up showed that we will not wait for any pancakes - they deliberately decided to feed us with clods of various shapes and sizes.

Trying to turn my performance closer to conceptuality, to individuality, to stories- Dmitry made it worse. The setups stretched out incredibly, the punchlines got blurry and now the thread of jokes is often not traced at all, and interesting stories, reasoning, observations or why else stand-ups are watching there - they just didn’t exist. There were, perhaps, only stories, but maybe it would be better if there were none. It turned out that Larin does not know how to be on the same wavelength with the viewer here, in other words, he does not quite understand what kind of stories the viewer likes and how to tell them in general. That is, the stories themselves turned out to be rather trivial and boring, and on the other hand, their presentation let us down - there was no attempt to interest the viewer with non-verbal means, to saturate the presentation with interesting details and nuances, but it turned out to load it with unimportant and uninteresting details. As a result: I liked it, apparently for the most part only to those who are seriously interested in the personality of Dmitry - it turned out to be a kind of cabal for the fans.

Essentially this "thought digest" Dmitry for any reason. sort of Lifestyle blog of reflective nature. Dima, as usual, thinks about different things: about YouTube figures, about women, about humor, about current events; often shares stories from life; recommends books he likes, etc. – blogs are just about all this at once.

What is interesting and useful in these blogs? Hmm, well, Dmitry is well aware of the inner workings of video blogging, the YouTube environment, stand-up comedy, as criticism, he is supposed to know and understand these things (and he, in turn, knows and understands) - if you are interested, then you are welcome.

Well, thoughts about all sorts of other things. In short: nihilism, pragmatism, cynicism, scientific positivism - in general, the “image of Larin”, see above. He is like that in real life, too.

It is sad that all this often slides into vulgar materialism, into equally vulgar pragmatism in general, and leads to rather superficial and naive conclusions about something. This concerns, first of all, generalizing topics and thoughts about a person, society, art, human and intersexual relations. And the point here is not even that Dmitry, in principle, is in some topics not a specialist or basically not competent somewhere, but in making broad generalizations in different spheres of reality, based on just some separate, private knowledge from a school / university course in biology or human physiology and anatomy, it’s probably somewhat premature and it just looks stupid.

Well, at least Dima sometimes refers to the works of specialists or encourages the study of science as such, for which, of course, a special and many thanks to him.

One way or another, Dima is an interesting person, with his own specific view of the world and things in it, a view that is not so often encountered now; and his special manner of joking, criticizing and hating. If it’s pseudo-intellectual, then pseudo-intellectual, which, for some reason, is interesting to watch 🙂

The future conqueror of the Runet was born in 1987 in a small settlement on the territory of the Arkhangelsk region. In his early years, the boy did not grab the stars from the sky and did not show any special abilities.

Here are some facts from his biography:

• In the village where Dima spent his childhood, there were several prison institutions;
• The colonies were the largest employers for the inhabitants of all the surrounding villages. The guy's father was no exception and worked in one of them as a warden;
• The oppressive atmosphere of the surrounding places of detention did not prevent Dmitry from developing: from early childhood he was fond of reading;
• I started programming in high school. After making the first site, he decided to freelance for a while;
• In 2004, the young man moved to Arkhangelsk and entered the university;
• However, he never managed to get a higher education. The need to earn a living forced me to take up programming again;
• Hard work and self-education began to gradually bear fruit: after a couple of years of experience on the Freelance.ru portal, online work began to bring him a good income.

Coming to YouTube

Larin met his coming of age in the deepest depression, the reasons for which he prefers not to talk about. The young man began to often apply to the bottle as a kind of antidepressant.

A little more, and the guy would have replenished the multi-million dollar army of Russian drunks if he had not found inspiration in creating videos:

• He began his first experiments in the field of black humor at the age of 26;
• By that time, he managed to move to the Northern capital. He made videos with an amateur camera in his rented apartment when the neighbors were away from home;
• A year of work on YouTube helped to acquire valuable contacts. So, his new friend Ilya Maddison invited Dima to work at his own radio station. And for three months he tried himself as a radio host;
• In 2012, a conflict occurred between Larin and several other video bloggers, which resulted in account blocking Larin show ;
• After some time, the blocking from the channel was removed, but by that time one more channel. The author is currently supporting both of his projects.

As the blogger himself recalls, before opening his channel, he vowed to lay hands on himself if he did not gather an audience with six zeros. Whether this story is true is unknown. But what is known for sure - in July 2016, the number of subscribers exceeded one million.

Why does Khovansky not love Larin?

In 2015, when Dmitry was not yet a millionaire blogger, he decided to increase the popularity of his channel in a very unusual way. To do this, he challenged one of the patriarchs of the Russian-language YouTube, Yuri Khovansky, to a verbal duel (versus):

• The skirmish took place in the form of a rap battle - rhymed insults of the interlocutor to looped music;
• Khovansky did not immediately respond to the challenge: more than three months passed before he agreed to the opponent;
• The battle took place in March 2016 and made a splash in the specific crowd of the project " Versus Battle »;
• The judges of the rap duel noted the high level of each of the contestants;
• The number of video views exceeded 15 million;
• Khovansky emerged victorious from the fight. But Larin did not come at all for victory - the number of subscribers to his channel after the release of the scandalous video began to grow exponentially.

The story received an unexpected continuation in 2017, when Dmitry unexpectedly released a diss on Khovansky - couplets, where he expressed his disrespect to the enemy. Here is the video:

Larin's career as a stand-up comedian

The laurels of Pavel Volya and Jimmy Carr haunted Larin for a long time, and in 2015 he tries himself as a humorist:

• The first offline performance in a large concert hall took place in March 2015;
• The guests at the event were not only regular subscribers of his channel, but also journalists, musicians and colleagues - the same video bloggers as he himself;
• The first pancake did not come out lumpy, but gathered a mixed reaction. The audience was divided into two halves. Part claimed that the numbers were successful. Others noted a lack of live performance experience;
• Despite the conflicting reviews of his debut, the comedian decided to tour the regional centers of Russia. The concert program was called "Tree Houses" and took place in the same 2015;
• The blogger does not want to quit his online activity and continues to release videos with the same regularity.
